An unintended expat blogger behind Market Quiet Table

Hi there, I am Sofia
I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't in the master plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The early weeks were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they ought to.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural adjustment, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet, gradually routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Market Quiet Table
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a frank, everyday-family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap—down-to-earth guidance rooted in real life in Spain.
What This Site Does Stand For (And What It Doesn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights gained from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn’t:
- A resource from a tourism authority
- A sponsored review platform
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Warm regards,
Sofia
